If you would ask someone on the street, in the Walgreen's or at the Piggly Wiggly, the Hoya Hop House or Wind and Unwind, "What do you know about the Waupun United Methodist Church?" what would they say? It is our call to be visible, and to be a place of welcome with "Open Hearts, Open Doors, and Open Minds," to convey a spirit of invitation for those who seek God and Jesus the Christ. It is less about the Church and more about spreading the love of God to and for people being a light and an example of what the world can be with Jesus as Lord.
In a world of war and violence and intolerance and division, God offers a vision that what is is not what can be. The Waupun United Methodist can be an example of working together for unity, working with each other and working with other Churches and peoples to show what a world of love and acceptance can be like. If you are looking for an end to isolation and loneliness and looking for a place to belong, there is room for you at the Waupun United Methodist Church.
As I near retirement and the end of my six years in Waupun and at the Waupun United Methodist Church, this has been my vision and my passion and my hope that my legacy will be the continuation and growth of the above. My prayer is that people will find the presence of God in this place for another 178 years and beyond.
